Harvey Safety LuncheonOn Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, United Tool and Fastener participated in D.E. Harvey Builders’ (Harvey) celebration of reaching a major safety milestone: one entire year of no accidents on a job site.

According to D.E. Harvey Builders Superintendent, Jason Mueller, the company and its sub-contractors were celebrating 365 days of safety with zero recordable accidents with a “Safety Luncheon”. Workers enjoyed fried catfish and shrimp, iced tea, and a raffle of prizes.

UTF contributes to the ongoing safety of Harvey workers by conducting safety seminars on the jobsite.

“We were celebrating our 250 workers’ efforts onsite daily that contributed to 262,568 total man hours as of Dec. 17, 2018,” Mueller explained.

“The 365-Day Safety Lunch gives credit to our workers for their continued diligence in safety on a 21-story cast-in-place apartment tower with an eight-story cast-in-place parking garage, and a five-level residential wrap component.”

UTF contributed to the celebration with two DeWalt 192-piece ‘Mechanics Tool Sets’ that were given away to two lucky workers in a raffle during the luncheon.

“In May 2018, we conducted a fall protection demonstration for the entire jobsite,” UTF Safety Specialist, Charlie Gertson, explained.

“During the demonstration, we discussed the inspection process, proper anchor points, how to wear the harness, and what to do in the event of a fall.”
