Webinar WednesdaysSTI Firestop is renewing its Webinar Wednesdays in October. The Webinar Wednesdays are simple ways to increase firestopping knowledge in addition to improve installation technique.

According to STI Firestop, the courses are designed to teach the importance of firestopping to life safety and code compliance in modern construction.

“At STI, our mission is to be the leading global provider of firestop training and continuing education,” John Zalepka, Training and Development Manager of STI, said.

“One way we do this is by filling your calendar this fall with many training and accredited continuing education opportunities where you can earn valuable continuing education (CE) credits from AIA, BICSI and the ICC.”

Below are some of the seminars offered in the fall:

Wednesday, October 5: Preconstruction Risk Assessment for Firestopping
AIA 1 LU/HSW
2:00 PM ET • Register online
This Preconstruction Risk Assessment Program for Firestopping is designed to minimize schedule delays, cost overruns, engineering judgments and code citations. The program identifies barriers, determines firestopping responsibilities and coordinates with subcontractors in preconstruction meetings to ensure the intent of the code is met to ensure the safety of the building’s occupants. The presentation includes practical solutions to assist in treating commonly over-looked firestopping conditions.

Wednesday, October 12: Hybrid Window Wall Designs
AIA 1 LU/HSW
2:00 PM ET • Register online
Understanding the role and value of tested perimeter fire barrier systems in hybrid window wall designs is extremely important. New hybrid window wall designs changed the configuration of traditional window wall framing leaving architects, code officials, and curtain wall consultants searching for tested solutions for the growing wall design. Therefore, understanding the unique challenges hybrid window wall designs present are critical to eliminate costly changes, delays, and safety requirements prior to construction.

Wednesday, October 26: Firestopping IT Infrastructure in Healthcare Facilities
AIA 1 LU/HSW and/or BICSI 1 CEC
2:00 PM ET • Register online
Firestopping is crucial in healthcare facilities. IT cabling in addition to increased demand from a network’s data handling capability can cause frequent changes to infrastructure within a facility that can negatively impact compliance. The Firestopping IT Infrastructure in Healthcare Facilities seminar outlines pitfalls and solutions to common firestopping issues that are costly when found during accrediting inspections.

Wednesday, November 2: Interior Finish Firestopping
AIA 1 LU/HSW
2:00 PM ET • Register online
Interior Finish Firestopping is a one-hour seminar covering the basics of Interior Finish and Joint system design for firestopping installation. The course also encompasses joint types, how they are tested and what to look for when choosing the correct UL system for an application in addition to how and why movement capabilities are tested.
