safeNearly a decade ago, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) designated June 12-18 as the inaugural “Safe + Sound Week” to raise awareness of workplace health and safety programs.

Since then, Safe+Sound Week has grown to become an important event held each August to recognize steps and programs businesses have implemented to improve health and safety in the workplace. Safe + Sound Week 2025 will be held August 11-17 with a theme of Preparedness is Your Superpower

Why Participate?

According to OSHA, “Successful safety and health programs can proactively identify and manage workplace hazards before they cause injury or illness, improving sustainability and the bottom line.”

“Implementing a safety and health program can improve businesses' safety and health performance, save money and improve competitiveness”- National Safety Council

Participating in Safe + Sound Week in any capacity can help begin a safety program, energize an existing one, or provide the chance to recognize safety and health accomplishments. Furthermore, taking part in Safe + Sound Week is easy and a fun way to build community and relationships.

Who Participates?

All organizations looking for an opportunity to recognize their commitment to safety and health can and should participate. In 2024, more than 5,000 businesses helped raise awareness about this important topic.

If August 11-17, 2025 is not a good time for your business to participate in Safe + Sound Week, that’s okay! What’s most important is picking a week that works and taking the time to make safety a priority.

Workers often know the most about potential hazards associated with their jobs. Therefore, when they are involved in finding solutions to problems or hazards they face, they become invested in the program.

Safe + Sound Week gives employees a platform, time and place to get started.
